Configuring an HTTP client context establishes the foundational settings -- base URL, default headers, authentication credentials, and proxy configuration -- that all subsequent API requests within a test suite will inherit.

Description

Before any API test can execute, the test framework must know how to communicate with the target service. An HTTP client context encapsulates this configuration in a reusable object that is shared across requests. This avoids repetitive boilerplate in each test and centralizes connection details so that switching environments (development, staging, production) requires changing only a single configuration point.

The key configuration parameters include:

  • Base URL: A root URL (e.g., https://api.example.com/v1) that is automatically prepended to all relative request paths. This allows tests to use short, readable paths like /users instead of full URLs.
