Leeroopedia:Privacy policy
Last updated: 12 October 2026
This privacy policy explains what information Leeroopedia collects about its visitors and registered users, how it is used, and the choices you have. Leeroopedia (https://leeroopedia.com) is operated by Leeroo ("Leeroo", "we"). Questions about this policy or about your data: founders@leeroo.com.
Summary
- Reading Leeroopedia does not require an account. Our web server keeps standard access logs for 14 days.
- We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used and Google AdSense to show advertisements. Both set cookies, and you can opt out of personalized advertising (see Cookies).
- If you create an account, we store your username, a hashed password and an optional email address.
- We do not sell personal information.
Information we collect
Server logs
Like every website, our web server records each request: the IP address it came from, the date and time, the page requested, the HTTP status, the referring page and the browser's user-agent string. These logs are used to keep the site secure, to detect and limit abuse, to debug problems and to produce aggregated traffic statistics on an access-restricted dashboard. Log files are rotated daily and deleted after 14 days.
Accounts and contributions
You can read Leeroopedia without an account. If you register, we store your username, a cryptographic hash of your password (never the password itself) and, if you provide one, your email address. The email address is used only to confirm that it is yours and to let you reset your password; confirmation and reset emails are delivered through Resend. Edits made from an account that is permitted to edit are public, together with the username and a timestamp, as part of each page's history.
Search API and MCP server
If you use the Leeroopedia API or the Leeroopedia MCP server, we process the queries you send and the API key that identifies your account in order to answer your requests and meter usage.
Cookies and similar technologies
Essential cookies
MediaWiki, the software that runs Leeroopedia, sets a session cookie and, when you log in, login cookies (their names begin with wiki). A preference cookie (wikimwclientpreferences) remembers appearance settings such as text size. These cookies are needed for the site to work and are not used for tracking.
Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to measure how Leeroopedia is used: which pages are viewed, how visitors arrive, and broad information about devices, browsers and approximate location derived from the IP address. Google Analytics sets cookies (_ga and related cookies) to tell returning visitors apart. How Google uses data from sites that use its services is described at https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. You can prevent Google Analytics from running in your browser with the Google Analytics opt-out add-on.
Google AdSense (advertising)
Leeroopedia shows advertisements served by Google AdSense.
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or to other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
- You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising at www.aboutads.info or, in Europe, www.youronlinechoices.eu.
- How Google uses cookies and other technologies in advertising is explained at https://policies.google.com/technologies/ads.
Controlling cookies
Your browser lets you view, delete and block cookies. Blocking the essential cookies prevents logging in but does not affect reading pages.
How we use information
- To deliver pages and keep the site available, secure and free of abuse.
- To understand which content is useful and improve the site.
- To fund the site through advertising.
- To operate accounts, the search API and the MCP server.
- To respond to messages you send us.
Legal bases (EEA, United Kingdom and Switzerland)
Where data protection law requires a legal basis, we rely on our legitimate interests in operating, securing, improving and funding the site; on the performance of our agreement with you for accounts and API usage; on your consent where the law requires it for non-essential cookies, which you can withdraw at any time through the controls above; and on our legal obligations.
Sharing
We share personal information only with service providers that process it on our behalf and as described in this policy: Amazon Web Services (hosting, in the United States), Google (analytics and advertising, under Google's own privacy policy) and Resend (transactional email). We may also disclose information when required by law or to protect the site, its users or others. We do not sell personal information.
International transfers
Leeroopedia is hosted in the United States. If you access it from elsewhere, your information is transferred to and processed in the United States and in the countries where our service providers operate.
Retention
- Server logs: 14 days.
- Account information: for as long as the account exists. Email founders@leeroo.com to delete your account. Contributions remain in page histories, attributed to your username or anonymised on request.
- Analytics and advertising data: according to Google's retention settings and policies.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of your personal information, to object to or restrict its processing, and to complain to a data protection authority. To exercise these rights, email founders@leeroo.com.
Children
Leeroopedia is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last changed, and the page history records every revision.
